With more than two decades of riding experience, Alix has developed the knowledge and skills to help each horse thrive, and achieve their highest potential. Working with riders from many different disciplines, including former team Canada riders, Alix has gained extensive knowledge in the art of horsemanship.
Beginning her riding career at 10 years old, her coach saw how passionate, focused and driven she was and placed her in a leadership roll within the program. In that role, she assisted other riders to safely catch, groom and tack up their horses. While being paid in free rides or extra lessons, Alix’s confidence in the saddle continued to grow and she gained the opportunity of progressing green and misunderstood horses as projects to help them flourish as suitable school horses. At the age of 12, Alix had her first opportunity to back a young horse and fell in love with the magic of starting babies.
Alix's early competition career was on young and sale horses providing them positive maiden experiences. She (still to this day) always walks out of the show ring with a grin on her face, whether the course went to plan or there were shenanigans and green moments. Often caught giggling when things go awry, Alix’s lighthearted attitude and training techniques are beneficial for horses to build confidence and become amateur friendly.
In her early 20s, Alix expanded her focus from hunter/jumper to incorporate dressage and began working with former Canadian international team members, Dr. Alan Young and Nancy MacLachlan. Over a six-year period, working as an assistant trainer with them having gained a great deal of experience in dressage, while fine tuning her horsemanship and backing skills. During her time there Alix developed multiple horses for the show ring, showing both youngsters for their owners and sale horses.
These experiences brought Alix to the realization that she has a gift with challenging horses. Her patience and understanding, coupled with her experience in a variety of disciplines has enabled her to help many equines find purpose and peace.
